In an effort to improve the dairy's new product development capabilities, a purpose built pilot plant was installed in 2000.

This plant allows us to specifically:

• Offer a comprehensive range of uniquely customised products.
• Meet the needs and requirements of both Ingredient and Retail users of cheese and dairy products.
• Demonstrate innovation and fresh ideas through new technology. A dedicated technician with 30 years experience runs the pilot trials, which are supervised by our New Product Development Manager - Richard Thorpe.
• Develop products that are not restricted by tradition.
• All Joseph Heler Cheese new products have been developed in the pilot plant including the Queen's Award winning low fat range.
