Cheshire - White & Coloured

One of the oldest English Cheese, invented during the 12th century. Cheshire has a Moist, Silky texture with a slightly salty, Milky Mellow flavour.

Wensleydale

An Ancient British Territorial cheese dating back to 1066 when it was originally made in Yorkshire by Monks. Wensleydale has a slightly flaky texture with a Mild flavour and honeyed aftertaste.

Caerphilly

Traditionally made in Wales, where it was taken down into the pits by miners, who not only ate it but also rubbed it into cuts and grazes to prevent infection and aid healing. Caerphilly has a moist, smooth texture with a fresh, tangy buttermilk flavour.

Lancashire

As it's name suggests, was originally made in the locality of Preston and found fame in Robert Louis Stephenson's book 'Treasure Island'. Lancashire has a crumbly texture with a sharp and tangy flavour.

Red Leicester

Known simply as Leicester, originally Beetroot or Carrot juice was used to achieve it's unique golden russet red colour. Red Leicester has an open, grainy texture with a mellow slightly lemony flavour.

Double Gloucester

A British territorial cheese thought to have been made originally as a 'double cream' cheese acquiring its name in the 18th century to differentiate it from single Gloucester. Double Gloucester has a smooth, buttery texture with a rich, mellow flavour.

Cheddar Cheese

First made near the Somerset village of Cheddar. Now one of the most widely made and eaten cheese in the world. A golden yellow light orange firm cheese with a close texture.

Special Reserve

Special Reserve is a Joseph Heler branded Regional Cheese launched in the Autumn of 2000.

As consumer tastes move to stronger flavoured cheese Joseph Heler have responded to this by releasing Special Reserve.

Special Reserve offers the consumer a mature regional cheese to cater for the modern palate, providing distinctive flavour profiles.

The new product range is the first mature regional cheese to be made at the Laurels dairy and is available in three varieties - Cheshire, Red Leicester and Double Gloucester.

Before the Special Reserve leaves the dairy final approval is gained from Joseph Heler himself, who hand grades all cheese made on site.

Special Reserve is a product to be enjoyed everyday and not just for special occasions.
